Through the Bamboo Forest Panda sand and seashell art by Anna Chan
Through the Bamboo Forest (Endangered Species II)
The giant panda, once on the brink of extinction, remains vulnerable with only about 1,800 left in the wild.  Native to the misty bamboo forests of China, these gentle bears are icons of peace and perseverance, yet face ongoing threats from shrinking habitats.  My sculpture reflects their striking black - and - white form and their dependence on bamboo, a fragile balance that reminds us how survival itself can hinge on the simplest of needs.
