Created for the NICU at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, Eternal portrays a gray fox mother and her kit, their tails gently intertwined as they gaze into one another’s eyes. The sculpture symbolizes protection, nurturing, and the enduring bond between parent and child, offering a sense of comfort and hope for families and caregivers.

 

Inspired by Northern California’s native wildlife, the piece was handcrafted from sustainably collected and recycled seashells from New York and Florida, set within my proprietary self-hardening sand process. One of seven artists selected for the hospital’s permanent collection, the work reflects my commitment to transforming natural materials into meaningful public art that fosters healing, connection, and a sense of place.
