Eternal
Commissioned by Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital
48" x 42" x 3", 2024
Created for the NICU within Stanford Hospital, this commissioned piece depicts a mother fox and her baby with their tails gently intertwined as they gaze into each other's eyes. The tender exchange embodies themes of calm, protection, and nurturing connection. The gray fox, native to Northern California, reflects the local wildlife of the region where the hospital is located. Crafted from sustainably collected and recycled seashells from New York and Florida, and set against a background of sand, the work not only honors nature's quiet strength but also highlights the importance of environmental care. One of the seven artist selected to create work for the hospital, this piece is designed to bring comfort and a sense of peace to both families and staff within the unit.
